A 44-year-old woman from Winter Garden was awarded $11.391,183.28 Friday, Oct. 17 after suing the city's Super Target for a 2019 incident.

The plaintiff was carrying her daughter in the parking lot while dodging traffic and puddles Dec. 23, 2019 at 3343 Daniels Road, Winter Garden.

Unaware of a landscaping island, she stepped onto the uneven surface which left her with a twisted and fractured ankle.

While trying to regain balance she sustained fractures in her right tibia, fibula and lateral malleolus.

The woman turned down a pre-trial settlement offer of $250,000 and later received around 45 times that amount.

The uneven surface and abrupt change in elevation were deemed a violation of several building codes.
