West, Southwest Orange Week 10 high school football schedule

It’s crunch time across the grid for West and Southwest Orange high school football teams. 

Only two games remain in the regular season. In Week 10, eleven teams enter the field for Friday night lights. Out of those matchups, seven games are district play and pads will clash to fight for a chance at a higher seed in playoffs. 

Ocoee's hosting West Orange in the infamous Battle of the Shield game. Each team enters the match tied for first in its conference and they’ll fight to not only claim first place in 7A District 5 but also school bragging rights for another year. 

Windermere High’s team is in a similar boat. The undefeated Wolverines will battle it out against undefeated Innovation to claim first in the Freelance District and continue their undefeated season.

Tonight is CFCA’s final game of the year and the team is one win away from finishing this season 9-0 after going 3-6 last year. The Eagles should enter the field with confidence and a mission. Foundation’s playing its last game of the season as well when the team travels to West Oaks Academy. The Lions’ running back Sam Wood has been a key production player for the team with his 15 touchdowns. 

Game of the week: Legacy Charter (0-8) vs. Academy at the Lakes (5-4) 

Legacy Charter’s the only team in the area playing under the eight-man style of football. It’s the team’s first year using the system because it didn’t have enough players at the beginning of the season to fill out a 11-man lineup. 

It’s Legacy’s last time playing on the grass until next year. The Eagles’ have struggled with injuries and adjusting to a different playing style. The coaches and players have relearned football, but through the process they’ve developed close relationships. Each player has explored their skills in various positions, but Kareem Hashish’s leading the Eagles in rushing yards with an average of 76.7 per game.
