Week 5 of high school football is officially underway and last week’s script didn’t go to plan for some schools.

No district games are kicking off this week and each team is striving to improve their record. CFCA, Windermere and Windermere Prep are the only teams who remain undefeated. Ocoee can expect a tough level of competition as they host Boone, who defeated West Orange last week.

There will be celebration at West Orange for their homecoming game against Lake Buena Vista. The festivities adds an extra level of motivation for the Warriors to come back after their loss last week and show out to the home fans.

Game of the week: Windermere Prep (3-0) vs. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic (2-3)

With its 4 p.m. kickoff, they can expect to be battling the Florida heat in the game of the week.

Windermere Preparatory school finished off last season 2-6 and by starting its season off 3-0, they’re already making improvements. The changes all came down to adjustments during their summer workouts and a team who strives to play together and win together, rather than only looking at individual success.

The key for Windermere Prep will be starting out fast against the Hurricanes and limiting their run game. Bishop McLaughlin averages 10.3 points in the first quarter and slowly trickles down as the game continues. The Hurricane’s offense is rush heavy, averaging 191 rushing yards per game over their 67 passing yards.

Windermere Prep’s on the flip side of that, it average 2.3 points in the first quarter and 9.3 in the fourth. The Lakers’ starting quarterback, Ty Tracey, is already making his presence on the field know. The freshman is averaging 130.3 yards per game with three touchdown passes, but he’ll have to be safe and limit interceptions.

As the teams kickoff at 4 p.m. today, Windermere Prep’s seniors hope to play their hearts out and continue with success. They're striving to leave a winning legacy for the future of the program.
