Horizon West Middle recognized for its sustainability efforts

Horizon West Middle won first place overall out of all schools in the district.

Horizon West Middle School won first place overall at the Green Schools Recognition Banquet Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The Green Schools Recognition Banquet is an award ceremony held to honor schools for their sustainability efforts, such as waste reduction, energy conservation and environmental education.

The middle school won $5,600 for its efforts and water and energy conservation.

"Congratulations to Ms. Rifenberg and all of the amazing students and staff that helped us win this amazing recognition," Horizon West Middle said in its newsletter.
