Horizon High School and Southwest Middle School have received distinctions for outstanding musicianship from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

Horizon High School's symphonic orchestra has been named a High School Orchestra of Distinction, and Southwest Middle School has been named a Middle School Orchestra in the Wings.

The Orchestra of Distinction program was "developed to showcase the excellent student musicians and educators of Central Florida high schools and middle schools, while also providing valuable insight and partnership opportunities with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra," according to the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

The two schools were among four Orange County Public Schools to receive distinctions. All four schools will be honored at the Beethoven Symphony No. 9 concert Sunday, May 10.
