Winter Garden City Hall now has LED lighting.

The city underwent a seven-month initiative to retrofit city hall with energy-efficient lighting in which all fluorescent lighting in the building has been replaced with environmentally-conscious LED lighting.

The new lighting will lower energy use, reduce emissions and promote energy efficiency. The LED lights will use 40% to 70% less energy than the previous fluorescent lights.

The city of Winter Garden received a $76,560 grant from the Energy and Conservation Block Grant Program to make to eco-friendly initiative possible.

Winter Garden was one of 2,708 eligible states, territories, local governments and tribes awarded a portion of the $430 million grant.
