District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson has asked the Board of County Commissioners to discuss zoning of tobacco shops near public schools, after Olympia High School parents raised concerns regarding a vape shop's proximity to campus.

According to a letter sent to the board, Wilson would like to explore an amendment to the Orange County Use Table, to specifically address the permitted use of tobacco shops in all commercial zoning districts and prevent future vape and smoke shops from being located within a "reasonable" distance of schools.

The discussion will take place during the Board of County Commissioners with planning officials at 9 a.m., Tuesday, April 7.

The meeting will be livestreamed on Youtube
