All OCPS schools to open Feb. 2 except Summerlake Elementary

All Orange County Public Schools will be open Monday, Feb. 2, except a Horizon West elementary school. 

Summerlake Elementary School will be closed due to the recent extreme cold causing facility issues. 

"Our teams have been working around the clock to address the impacts of the freezing temperatures, and we are grateful for their tremendous efforts to ensure our buildings are safe and ready for students and staff," OCPS posted on Facebook. "We understand how challenging this weather has been for many across the community, and we appreciate your patience and understanding."

The district is asking students, families and staff to dress warm and to be careful while traveling to school. 

"We will be assessing any overnight issues and if there is anything major in the morning with your school, we will contact you," OCPS said. "The safety and well being of our students and staff remain our top priority."
