Foundation Academy girls weightlifting team makes history

The team won Class 1A, Region 6 in Olympic for the first time in school history.

Following Foundation Academy girls weightlifting team’s back-to-back district championship, the team headed to Class 1A, Region 6 Championship Saturday, Jan. 31, and won the Olympic category for the first time in school history. 

Foundation Academy also finished in second place in the Traditional category with 34 points, falling 3 points short of Windermere Prep. 

The team earned 38 points in Olympic, with McKeel in second, Brooks DeBartolo in third and Windermere Prep in fourth. Kayla Bolivar earned first in the 129 weight class by lifting 240 total pounds. Kena Terry finished first in the 154 weight class by lifting 280 total pounds. 

The Lions will send three girls to five girls to compete for the State Championship, Friday, Feb. 13.
