The Knights’ wrestling team won back-to-back West Metro Conference Champions

Ocoee High wrestling team finished as the West Metro Conference Champions for the second year in a row, Friday, Jan. 30. 

In the win, three Knights finished on the podium. Sophomore Giulia De Olivelra Palva claimed gold, sophomore Savannah Fernandez and junior Hanna Perez finished in second in their weight class. 

Following the West Metro Conference tournament, the team competed in the 2026 Massung Scramble where four boys finished on the podium. Raphael Barros Taquechel in first, Jonathon McPherson in second and Marc Williams and Silas Metayer finished in third. 

Barros Taquechel also was named the wrestler of the week by the Knights wrestling team. 

The team will compete on the road against West Orange High at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4.
