Foundation Academy girls varsity basketball head coach Kimberly Smith was named the Class 2A FACA District 11 Coach of the Year. Her accomplishment came after leading the Lions’ team to a 20-6 overall record and posing a 2-0 record in district play.

Smith took over the Lions’ program in 2024 from former head coach and current associate athletic director Krystal Thomas-Smith.

In Smith’s first season as a Lion, she led the team to a 13-11 record and a regional semifinal playoff appearance. Now in her second year, she’s been named Coach of the Year and once again will head to the regional semifinals after defeating Benjamin 45-32, in the quarterfinals.
