Oakland Nature Preserve now has a new addition to its team.

Buttercup, a Virginia Opossum, now is part of ONP's ambassador team.

Buttercup was deemed unreleasable because of medical issues.

She now is getting settled in her external enclosure at ONP aka her new home.

"She's still a little shy, so don't be alarmed if you don't see her when you visit," ONP posted. "As she gets more comfortable you will see her out more at events and greeting school groups and visitors."

ONP would like to remind everyone wild opossums cannot be kept as pets as they have specialized diets and need more care than a domestic animal.

"Drop by to see her soon and share the love," ONP posted.
