Shepherd's Hope, a faith-based nonprofit in Winter Garden, received $10,000 from UCF Lake Nona Hospital and UCF Academic Health leaders.

Shepherd's Hope provides free medical care to uninsured, low-income individuals in Central Florida.

It's located at 455 9th St., Winter Garden, and offers primary and specialty care, including diagnostics and educational services.

According to UCF Lake Nona Hospital, the Community Health Advancement Grant will support Shepherd's Hope Heart-to-Heart initiative, which provides its patients with cardiac wellness kits, volunteer-led health conversations and American Heat Association-developed educational materials to improve cardiac health literacy.

Four other recipients were chosen to receive $10,000 as well.

Those are the Healthy Start Coalition of Osceola County, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Nemours Children's Hospital and Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation.
