Dr. Phillips boys basketball player reaches 1,000 points

Dr. Phillips rising star Josiah Gillard reached his 1,000 career point following the Panthers’ game against Lake Highland Prep Friday, Dec. 19. 

The sophomore point guard is playing his first season as a Panther after transferring from Lake Minneola High his freshman year. He has nine games remaining this year to extend his all-time scoring and is on track to surpass 2,000 points by his senior year. The 6-foot point guard currently is ranked No. 16 in Florida per Florida Hoops rankings. 

He also already has gained college attraction and his first Division I offer came from the University of San Diego and the second from San Jose State. 

As a squad, Dr. Phillips is ranked No. 58 in Florida with a 8-7 record and 1-2 in its district.
