Dr. Phillips football player shot dead

Raylin Harrison, 16, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 28 in Holden Heights.

A 16-year old boy from Dr. Phillips High School was shot and killed on the night of Sunday, Dec. 28. 

Orange County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call regarding a shooting in the 1500 block of 26th St. around 9 p.m. 

When deputies arrived on scene, Raylin Harrison was severely injured. 

He was transported to a hospital where he died. 

He was in his junior year at Dr. Phillips High, playing for the school’s football team and the Florida Bombers. 

“He will forever be remembered for his bold personality and love for the game of football,” the Florida Bombers posted on Facebook. “Please keep his family in your prayers during this devastating time.” 

A vigil was held in his honor Wednesday, Dec. 31, where his family, friends, coaches and teammates gathered to send him love, peace and prayers. 

OCSO has not charged anyone with the death of Raylin yet.
