The Oakland Nature Preserve will offer six Freshwater Systems Master Naturalist Courses every Friday from Jan. 16 to Feb. 20.

The Florida Master Natualist Program is an adult-education program developed by the University of Florida with the mission to promote awareness, understand and respect of Florida’s ecosystems.

This is a 40-hour contact class providing instruction on the general ecology, habitats, vegetation types, wildlife and conservation issues of Freshwater Systems in Florida, ONP said.

The program will consist of classroom learning and field trips. ONP says this course is ideal for:

• Any adult (18 years of age or older) interested in learning more about Florida’s unique natural history.

• Volunteers and employees at parks, nature centers, museums, historical sites and any facility or organization that provides environmental education programs.

• Ecotour guides and natural resource professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge or programs.

• Teachers and professionals who wish to acquire educational contact hours for continuing education.
