Olympia boys basketball junior reaches 1,000 points

Olympia High boys basketball player James Nowells earned his 1,000th career point Tuesday, Jan. 6. 

His accomplishment came during the team’s first game of the Metro Conference tournament against Lake Buena Vista. The Titans’ tallied a 67-24 win over LBV to kick off the tournament’s campaign. 

Nowells has been a rising star for Olympia, playing a pivotal role in the team’s 12-5 record and No. 27 placement in Florida. 

The junior guard is in is second season on the Titans’ varsity roster and has grown tremendously in this year. He’s averaging 20 points per game and six rebounds, while as a sophomore he averaged 13.1 points and 4.4 rebounds.
