Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson is currently suing District 2 Commissioner Christine Moore to get her removed from the March ballot, claiming she has not met the residency requirements to run for mayor.

When applying for the race, Moore listed her address as 75 W. Magnolia St., Apopka. However, according to the lawsuit, Moore's vehicle was regularly parked in front of homestead property between April and July of 2025, which is not located in Apopka.

The filing shows Nelson stopped by the property 70 times to photograph her car in the driveway.

To run for mayor, the city requires candidates to reside within city for at least one year prior to taking office, which would've required Moore to have established her Apopka residency in Apopka by the end of April.

Nelson now is asking the city to disqualify Moore and remove her from the ballot.

Election day is set for March 10. A runoff election will take place April 14 if necessary.
