"I chose to tell this story because I've struggled with self-image and the pressure to look 'perfect,' especially growing up online," Makarenko said in a news release. "I wanted to show how easy it is to lose yourself when filters become the standard. Turning that conflict into a surreal, physical battle helped me express something very real that many people quietly go through. At its core, the film is my way of saying that your uniqueness and yourself are worth fighting for."

Makarenko graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2025 with a major in computer animation.

The College Television Awards are open to undergraduate and graduate students and is "regarded as one of the most distinguished and high-profile stepping stones for careers in television and media."

Winners will be announced at the red-carpet awards ceremony Saturday, March 28, at the Television Academy in North Hollywood, California.
