TFA boys soccer clinches the 2A District 6 Championship

The Royals haven’t won the district championship since 2016.

The First Academy boys soccer team secured the 2A District 6 Championship Tuesday, Jan. 27, over Cornerstone Charter Academy. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and in the overtime penalty shootout, TFA won 3-2. 

With the win, the team ended the 10-year drought from the championship. The last time TFA won the district championship was in 2016. 

TFA entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and in the semifinals topped No. 1 seed Windermere Prep 2-0. The Royals sit at 7-5-2 this season. 

The Royals will play in the 2A Regional Quarterfinals Tuesday, Feb. 3. TFA’s opponent has not been released yet.
