Olympian Sha'Carri Richardson arrested in Winter Garden

The Olympic gold medalist was arrested for dangerous excessive speeding.

Olympian Sha'Carri Richardson, 25, was arrested Thursday, Jan. 29, in Orange County.

The 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist was booked for dangerous excessive speeding, which is considered driving faster than 100 miles per hour. 

An Orange County Sheriff's Office traffic enforcement deputy on patrol reportedly pulled over Richardson who was traveling 104 mph on State Road 429 near Stoneybrook Parkway and dangerously tailgating and traveling across lanes of travel to pass other motorists, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Bond was $500, and she has bonded out, according to OCSO. 

Dangerous excessive speeding is a second-degree misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of up to 60 days in jail, six months probation and a $500 fine. 

Richardson also won a silver medal in the 100m, along with winning gold in the women's 4x100 relay in 2024.
