The owner of Writer’s Block Bookstore, Lauren Zimmerman, shared a message to the Winter Garden community Tuesday, March 10.

Zimmerman wrote that due to recent changes in the ownership of downtown properties, the bookstore’s landlord has chosen to terminate its lease for a new tenant under a much higher rent. The impact has resulted in Writer’s Block Bookstore to close its Winter Garden location at the end of April.

“This is deeply upsetting for our team and for me personally,” Zimmerman said. “I fell in love with Winter Garden from the very beginning. The past five years have been a joy and a privilege, and I will always be grateful for the relationships we’ve built with so many of you — families, readers, teachers and friends who made this store what it is.”

She said they will continue to serve Winter Garden’s customers through their Winter Park store and online. They already have begun to look into ways to stay connected through schools, libraries, events and partnerships in the coming months.

JKSH Properties LLC owns the building in which Writer's Block Bookstore is located, which is 32 W. Plant St.

JKSH Properties LLC has ties to Rohland June, Christopher Kaminski, Jeffrey Sedloff and Robert Holston. The LLC's registered agent is Jacqueline Kaminski. JKSH Properties LLC has owned the building since Sept. 11, 2006, according to property records.
