High school wrestlers wrap up states competition

Two Ocoee High boys wrestlers became the first Knights to earn a top eight finish.

Boys and girls wrestling teams competed in states Thursday, March 5, through Saturday, March 7.

Windermere High’s girls wrestler Emily McCormack took home fourth place in states.

Ocoee High’s junior boys wrestler Raphael Taquechel finished in seventh place in the 138-pound weight class. Knights senior Silas Metayer finished in eighth place in the 215-pound weight class. The two wrestlers made history for Ocoee by becoming the first of the Knights’ wrestlers to place in the top eight at the FHSAA State Championship.
