District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson announced she is the new-elect Chair of MetroPlan Orlando.

"I look forward to guiding our region's transportation vision as we advance safer streets and more equitable mobility options for everyone who lives, works and travels in our community," Wilson posted on Facebook.

She will lead the regional transportation planning organization for Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties.

"Thank you to my fellow board members for your trust and collaboration and to the dedicated MetroPlan staff whose expertise keeps our region moving forward every day," she posted. "Transportation is inherently regional; meaningful progress depends on the strong partnerships required to improve safety, expand mobility choices and connect all of our communities."

Each term is one-year long, and Wilson may be re-elected for one additional year.
