Orange County District 1 Commission Nicole Wilson is looking for residents to serve on her new District 1 Leadership Council.

The District 1 Leadership Council is a new advisory council, which will be an opportunity for residents to serve as a direct connection to local government.

The council will work to "propose actionable policy recommendations that improve the quality of life" for the community, according to the website for the new council

It will serve as an advisory board to Wilson by providing research-based, community-informed input on key policy issues, long-term priorities and neighborhood needs.

Wilson is hosting a virtual information session at 4 p.m. Friday, March 13.

Residents can register for the information session, which will go through the council's purpose, the application process and answer questions from residents.

The council will have 15 to 25 solutions-oriented and community-centered individuals.

Once council members are selected, they will meet in person monthly at the Orange County Administration Building, located at 201 S. Rosalind Ave., Orlando.

Interested residents can apply online.
