Windermere High boys basketball program only has known one name at the helm of its coaching staff since beginning in 2017:  Mark Griseck.

After nine seasons as the head coach of the Wolverines, Griseck announced he officially is stepping down from the post. He turned a brand-new team into a Central Florida powerhouse. The Wolverines had two Final Four appearances, the most recent came in 2024-2025, and eight straight state playoff appearances. In the past season, the team finished 15-14 and fell in the regional semifinals 46-40 to Oak Ridge.

“Have been blessed at every stop along the way, but to build a program from scratch with my son Trey by my side has truly been the highlight of my career,” Griseck wrote in his announcement. “We exceeded even our own expectations.”

Griseck not only is well known at Windermere but he also has built a name for himself in the basketball community, working as a head coach for 24 years and 36 years overall coaching.

“Can’t thank all the people who have coached with me enough,” Griseck wrote in his announcement. “There is no success without great people around you. To all the players, I love you guys. You all know I am always here for you. I am always proud of all your success on and off the court.”
