Windermere Preparatory School is looking for a property site to construct a new elementary campus.

The school's expansion plans are in the early stages, with a community meeting being held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in Bridgewater Middle School's media center.

The meeting is to discuss two proposed plans including to reduce framework streets and adjust the siting standards to account for the site-specific site conditions to the cross-access requirements. The other proposal is for a two-story K-5 private school for 880 students and a campus that includes associated sports fields.

The proposed plans are for 15765 New Independence Parkway in Horizon West.

The proposal is in the technical review stage. Once all county staff have completed their reviews, the request will be scheduled for a Development Review Committee meeting, which is not a public hearing.

The DRC then will make a recommendation on the Change Determination Request and take final action on the Development Plan Request for the two-story K-5 private school.

The Change Determination Request, which is the request to reduce framework streets and adjust the siting standards, will be scheduled for an Orange County Board of County Commissioners public hearing for a final decision. Notices will be mailed to surrounding property owners.
