As many of you know the Winter Park Chamber, Health Foundation, Winter Park YMCA, Winter Park Hospital, and many local businesses have come together to create Workplace Wellness. This healthy initiative is taking the city by storm.

Today in a Winter Park Chamber Board meeting we discussed some of the small steps businesses can take to make for healthy policies in the workplace. Just to start the Winter Park Chamber, under the leadership of President Patrick Chapin, has implemented some everyday changes to the workplace that have made a huge impact in staff energy levels and work ethic. One being a daily wellness walk where employees spend thirty minutes walking Park Avenue to reenergize themselves for the afternoon. Another, The sweet free zones! That means no doughnuts in the kitchen and board rooms. There is also no longer soda served at chamber meetings which not only makes for a healthy environment but also a more fiscally responsible chamber of commerce. These are just a few small steps.

How does this effect my 60 day challenge. Well I realized that where I struggle greatest is during the work day. Most meetings I attend have food provided that is not great for you and there is always a dessert or soda included. It is 8 hours of the day that I take my focus completely off my health, and do what is most convenient.

Im going to take some of these healthy initiatives back to the office. I know my team will be on board for them and Im hoping others in the office will as well.

30 days left in the 60 day challenge and I am feeling like I really need to push myself these last 30 days!
