Ashanty Columbus was cool under pressure during the competition. She and teammate Alec Gobel served a coffee-flavored Bavarian cream with a salted caramel filling.

Three teams from Westside Tech joined hundreds of other culinary students from throughout Central Florida for a kitchen showdown at the fifth annual Central Florida High School Culinary Competition and Conference, held Thursday, Dec. 10, at Orlando World Center Marriott.
The teams participated in five different categories to show off their skills in cooking and hospitality. Competitors were judged by local Florida restaurant owners, operators and chefs representing FRLA, Marriott, Walt Disney World and local magazines.
