WINTER GARDEN Participants in the Winter Garden Police Athletic League’s Donut Dash 5k donned their doughnut-themed race shirts and took off running at 8 a.m. for a good cause. The 5k, held on Saturday, Oct. 15, benefitted the Police Athletic League, a nonprofit of WGDP that aims to improve the relationship between police officers and the public.
Runners could stop to grab a cup of water and a doughnut at each of the three mile-marker stations. Each doughnut consumed by a runner knocked a few seconds off his or her overall time.
