Volunteers announced at the end of the day Friday that the girls had won the offering competition, raising more than $1,000.

WINDERMERE Soccer nets, cutouts of football players and basketballs were just a few of the themed decorations adorning the main stage during First Baptist Church Windermere’s VBS. Held June 25 to 29 at the downtown campus, the weeklong VBS’ theme was “Game On!” Children enjoyed games, crafts, snacks and Bible stories in accordance with the sports theme. Boys and girls competed all week to see who could collect the most money for the offering — which went to Operation Christmas Child — and as their reward two of the teen volunteers dumped buckets of queso and bags of nacho chips on two other volunteers’ heads.
