WINDERMERE More than 100 Windermere residents, town staff and the police foundation gave their time and worked together Saturday, Feb. 23, during the town’s Build a Bed event. Volunteers partnered with staff from nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace to help build bunk beds for children in need who don’t have beds of their own. Everyone participating helped by cutting and drilling wood, soaking it in a special stain, branding the wood and loading the finished pieces up. In total, their teamwork resulted in 43 built beds.
