Two dead following crash on S.R. 429 in Winter Garden

Four cars were involved in the fatal crash.

Two people have died following a four-car crash on S.R. 429 in Winter Garden Thursday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 2019 Land Rover was traveling southbound around 10 a.m. when it veered into the grass median. The driver then moved back into the southbound lanes before crossing the median and driving into the northbound lanes, hitting a 2012 Isuzu truck head-on.

A 2009 Toyota Camry and a 2017 Chevy Cruze also were involved in the crash. Troopers said the truck overturned on its side before coming back down to rest on the hood of the Chevy Cruze.

The driver of the Land Rover was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, who is from Winter Park, was taken to AdventHealth with critical injuries but did not survive. The names have not been released, but the report stated that the Land Rover's driver was from Winter Garden and the truck driver was from Winter Park.

The crash remains under investigation.
