Orange County School Board members will vote Tuesday, May 28, on whether to approve the recommended rezoning for elementary school site 85-E-W-4.
According to the meeting agenda, the rezoning process for site 85-E-W-4 — set to open in August 2020 — will also impact Independence, Keene’s Crossing and Water Spring elementary schools next fall.
If approved, the recommended rezoning will establish an attendance zone for site 85-E-W-4, which is located at 15450 Porter Road, Winter Garden. It also will modify attendance zones for Independence, Keene’ Crossing and Water Spring elementary schools. These zoning and rezonings all would become effective in August 2020.
Orange County Public Schools also is seeking approval to select Wharton-Smith, Inc. as the construction-management firm for Orange Technical College’s Westside Campus replacement project. According to the agenda, the Consultants Competitive Negotiation Act Committee met on May 14 and is recommending Wharton-Smith. Construction on Orange Technical College’s Westside Campus is expected to begin in December 2020 and completed by April 2022.
Additionally, the West Orange High and Lake Nona High bands are both requesting approval to travel to London from Dec. 27, 2019, to Jan. 3, 2020. Both bands were invited to participate in London’s 34th New Year’s Day Parade and Festival, and both also will perform in the Gala Concert series.
The trip would have no financial impact on OCPS, as participants would contribute and funds will be raised to cover trip expenses.
