The West Orange Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 2022 Rock the House event Saturday, Oct. 29.
This year, those who attended were encouraged to pick a theme per table and dress up for Halloween. This resulted in costumes such as hippies, cowboys, historical characters, football players, among others.
Entertainer Billy Flanigan opened the night's festivities with a rendition of "The Greatest Showman," before introducing emcees Betsy VanderLey, former District 1 commissioner, and Austin Arthur, representative from We Are Winter Garden and host of the West Orange on the Go podcast.
Marilyn Hattaway, executive director of West Orange Habitat for Humanity, thanked the organization's many sponsors and Jo Barsh announced the nonprofit's Volunteer of the Year.
In addition, VanderLey and Arthur shared words about Habitat for Humanity's mission, attendees heard from two families directly involved with the organization and Ben Farrell led the crowd in a live auction.
There were several items included in the auction event for the night. These were: a North Carolina getaway, a two-night stay at a choice of hotel at Universal Orlando Resort with passes, a cruise for two adults on Margaritaville at Sea to Grand Bahama Island, baskets and more.
The event celebrated the impact Habitat for Humanity has had in the community over the years, and highlighted the effort the organization puts every day to provide the opportunity to become a homeowner to those who may not be able to do so on their own.
