The qualifying period has ended for the town of Oakland’s municipal General Election, to take place Tuesday, March 19.

Two people have qualified for the mayor’s seat: Salvador Ramos and Shane Taylor. Longtime Mayor Kathy Stark did not run for re-election.

Commissioner Michael Satterfield is unopposed for Seat 2, and he will retain his position for another four years.

No one qualified for Seat 3, which is being vacated by Commissioner Ramos in his bid for mayor. The town will appoint a resident to that seat at a later date.
