Residents of the Independence community of Horizon West gathered to make holiday memories Friday, Nov. 17, at the Light Up Independence event. Several firepits were set up around the entrance to the neighborhood, and families grabbed bags of chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows to make S’mores. Falling snow kept everyone dancing, and the Grinch and several elves showed up to dance and hand out candy and glow sticks.
At 6:30 p.m., thousands of white lights were turned on to reveal the Independence Christmas tree, rows of roadside trees and the clock tower.
