Winter Garden’s Citizens Police Academy starts Wednesday

The nine-week course at the WGPD provides discussions on a variety of police topics, including investigations and department procedures.

The Winter Garden Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy begins this week, and the free nine-week course takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, March 6 through May 1. Winter Garden police officers and staff host weekly discussions on such topics as crime prevention, investigations and police procedures. Class participants also will be eligible to go on a ride-along with an officer.

To be eligible for the academy, participants must be at least 18 years old with no criminal record and live or work in the city of Winter Garden. Classes are held in the police station training room.
