WGHF presenting Florida’s space history

Brendan Byrne will share facts from the state’s involvement in space exploration.

Learn the fascinating space history of Florida — from the first rocket launches to the latest innovations — in a program presented by Brendan Byrne, the assistant news director of Central Florida Public Media. It takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation’s Heller Hall, 21 E. Plant St.

Byrne manages the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, editing daily news stories and managing the organization's internship program.

He also covers space news for CFPM, everything from rocket launches to the latest scientific discoveries in the universe. He hosts the weekly radio show and podcast "Are We There Yet?" which explores human space exploration, and CFPM’s "The Wrap," a weekly news roundup podcast. He is a frequent contributor to NPR's national programs.

Community Editor Amy Quesinberry Price was born at the old West Orange Memorial Hospital and raised in Winter Garden. Aside from earning her journalism degree from the University of Georgia, she hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown and her three-mile bubble.
