The Oakland Nature Preserve is recycling soft plastics for a new plastic bench.

According to Oakland Nature Preserve, soft plastics are items that cannot go into a recycling bin at home, like produce bags, bread bags, Ziploc bags, newspaper sleeves, bubble wrap and more.

The Oakland Nature Preserve's goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of soft plastic so it can receive a donated recycled plastic bench for its location.

To support its goals, the Oakland Nature Preserve is asking residents to drop off soft plastics that have been collected in a clear plastic bag to their education center's porch at 747 Machete Trail, Oakland.
