Orlando man dies after crash in Lake Buena Vista

A 62-year-old man died after being transported to Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital after the accident.

A 62-year-old Orlando man has died as a result of a crash around 3:49 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in Lake Buena Vista.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the 62-year-old was driving eastbound on Winter Garden-Vineland Road in a 2020 Ford Escape and approaching the intersection of Buena Vista Drive. 

The other driver, a 45-year-old Orlando man in a 2011 Honda Accord as stopped faced east for a traffic signal on Winter Garden-Vineland Road at the intersection of Buena Vista Drive ahead of the driver in the Ford Escape.

The 62-year-old man failed to stop for the 45-year-old driver, and as a result, the front right side of the Ford Escape struck the rear left side of the Honda Accord. 

The Ford Escape driver continued traveling east and struck a light pole at the same intersection. 

The 62-year-old was transported to Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital here he was pronounced dead. 

The 45-year-old driver as not injured and remained on the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the trash.
