Windermere Preparatory Academy's Brandon Bass Jr. named Class 3A Player of the Year

The Lakers’ senior guard Brandon Bass Jr. was awarded District 11 Overall Player of the Year and 3A Player of the Year.

Windermere Preparatory Academy’s senior guard Brandon Bass Jr. was awarded the District 11 Overall Player of the Year and Class 3A Player of the Year. 

The 6-foot-4 guard, who is committed to Florida State University, has played all four years of his high school career as a Laker. He’s averaged 27.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. In December he broke Windermere Prep’s all-time scoring record by surpassing 1,912 career points. His list of records as a Laker includes; All-time leading scorer, most points in a season, most points in a game, highest single-season scoring average, second all-time in field goals made, most field goals in a season and in a game, most 3-pointers in a career and in a game, most free throws in a career and in a season and second all-time in career rebounds. 

Bass Jr. will continue to help his team as the Lakers head into the regional semifinals of the state playoffs. Windermere Prep plays at The Villages Charter School at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Class 3A tournament.
