East Crown Point Road could reopen

Cold weather is delaying the opening of the road, which has been blocked by barricades since October.

After months of waiting, East Crown Point Road between Ocoee and Winter Garden could open this week.

The road was closed in October after more than four inches of rain fell causing a sink hole to open at East Crown Point Road, just north of East Fullers Cross Road.

The rain damaged the stormwater infrastructure beneath the roadway.

The road has been closed since to allow crews to address the underlying drainage issues before restoring the roadway surface.

In October, Orange County approved an emergency contract with Stage Door 2 in the amount of $485,000 to replace the failed piped and restore the roadway.

The drainage work now is complete, but paving has been delayed due to temperatures being too cold to pour asphalt.

If weather cooperates, East Crown Point Road could open this week.
