Walmart recently has partnered with Wing, a company that operates drone delivery services, to offer a new delivery method to its customers.
According to Wing's press release, this innovative delivery-service option allows Central Florida residents and tourists to receive items quickly, as drones bypass traffic.
Ocoee residents soon will be able to try the service themselves.
Wing drones fly up to 60 mph and lower to about 20 feet into a person's property to safely lower the packages.
Currently, the drones in Florida can only transport up to 2.5 pounds per flight, but Wing plans to increase it to 5 pounds in the near future.
The Walmart on Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka already is offering the delivery drone service.
The Walmart on Johns Lake Road in Clermont is offering the services as well.
Soon, the Ocoee Walmart will begin offering drone delivery method, as well as the Walmart on U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont and U.S. Highway 27 in Haines City.
“We measure success in minutes saved and life made a little easier in Central Florida,” said Heather Rivera, Wing’s chief business officer. “Whether it’s helping a family grab a quick lunch without loading everyone into the car, or delivering sunscreen to a visitor at their vacation rental, we want drone delivery to be a simple, seamless part of daily routines.”
