Gotha Middle student advances to regional spelling bee competition

An eighth-grade student will compete in the Orange County Regional Spelling Bee Friday, March 27.

Eighth-grader Leo Terrell from Gotha Middle is advancing to the Orange County Regional Spelling Bee. 

The event will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, March 27 at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center at 445 W. Amelia St., Orlando. 

"This is an incredible accomplishment and we are so proud of the hard work, dedication and perseverance Leo has shown to get to this point," Gotha Middle School posted on Facebook. "Competing at this level takes focus, determination and a whole lot of studying -- and Leo has truly earned this moment." 

The top three spellers at the regional spelling pee will represent Orange County on a national level in Washington, D.C. 

"Leo, our entire Gotha family is cheering you on," Gotha Middle continued. "We are so proud of you and can't wait to see you shine on the regional stage."
