The world's largest White Castle officially lowered its drawbridge to eager diners Monday, May 3, in Southwest Orange.
White Castle officials, including Operating Partner Francis Nation, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at about 8 a.m. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings was among the attendees.
The location boasts several unique features, including a two-lane, covered drive-thru; a large, open kitchen with eight grilling stations; and touchscreen ordering kiosks. Nation, a 20-plus-year veteran of White Castle, previously worked for the company in New York and Nashville before moving to Orlando to open the Southwest Orange location.
The eatery brings more than 100 jobs to the local market. Nation said he received more than 1,000 applications for those positions.
This newest White Castle is located at 11595 Daryl Carter Parkway, Orlando, in the Village at O-Town West. Its opening marks the brand's return to the Sunshine State after it had operated in the 1960s in Miami.
