ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Shae Vevera

Shae Vevera is a senior who has played forward for the girls soccer team at Dr. Phillips throughout her high-school career. During a Dec. 8 game at Jones, she scored a hat trick, leading her team to an 8-0 victory — the team’s sixth straight shutout.

Cam Montgomery, a Windermere resident and Olympia High School graduate, spent the summer in Alaska playing baseball for the Mat-Su Miners in the Alaska Baseball League. While he was there, he won a home-run derby.

The Warriors will host the Titans at 2 p.m. Saturday in the first state semifinal appearance for either program. The winner will play in the FHSAA Class 9A State Championship Nov. 18 at the University of North Florida Arena.
