Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn received the Tri-County League of Cities’ 2014 Elected Municipal Official of the Year Award.

The award is presented to one elected municipal official for their distinguished service from Orange, Osceola or Seminole counties. It is decided by the League’s Board of Directors and in presenting the award, President Joe Durso noted the board’s recognition of the leadership Bruhn showed in times of turmoil and, most recently, during times of tragedy.

In his acceptance speech, Bruhn recognized previous recipients of the award, including last year’s recipient, Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett, for his leadership during the George Zimmerman court trial.

Bruhn also serves as the chairman of the Orange County Council of Mayors and is a member the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors and the West Orange Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He also chairs the Florida League of Cities’ Urban Administration Legislative Committee.
