Lakeview Middle AVID final event of the year

The Advancement Via Individual Determination team of Lakeview Middle held its final event for the school year on May 15, during which parents, students and teachers in the program reflected on the year and celebrated student growth and achievement. AVID targets students in the ‘academic middle’ — B, C and even D students — who desire to go to college and are willing to work hard. These students are typically the 1st in their families to attend college, come from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education and are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but, for various reasons, fall short of their potential.
