Put your name on park brick

Commemorative bricks are being sold and will be incorporated into a walkway connecting the disabled parking area to the playground at West Side Park on Hull Street in Oakland.

Three brick sizes are available and will cost $30, $40 and $65, respectively. The town is taking orders until September, at which time it will have the commemorative bricks etched and laid along the path. The overall sidewalk will require about 400 bricks.

The bricks come in brown, red, gray and tan and can have up to three, six or eight lines of writing, depending on the size purchased.

Bricks can be engraved with clip art, as well, for an extra $6 with images to choose from various categories. To view the available images, go to the town’s website, www.oaktownusa.com, or visit Oakland Town Hall at Tubb Street.

Any surplus funds from the sale will go toward the purchase and installation of a drinking fountain, fencing and possibly signage. The town expects to have the walkway constructed in time for an anticipated park dedication ceremony in the fall.
